DPF cleaning & regeneration

Professional DPF cleaning on XTON machines

DPF X is a network of authorised DPF service centres in the UK. We clean and regenerate diesel particulate filters on XTON machines, removing the soot and ash that block them, so the filter goes back on the vehicle instead of being replaced. For cars, vans, trucks, buses and agricultural machines.

Why choose DPF cleaning instead of a new filter?

Lower cost

Professional DPF cleaning costs a fraction of fitting a new diesel particulate filter.

Restored performance

Removing soot and ash lowers exhaust back-pressure, clears DPF warning lights and limp mode, and restores engine power.

Better for the environment

DPF regeneration reuses the original filter, so less goes to waste and emissions stay within limits.

DPF cleaning questions

Answers about diesel particulate filters, DPF cleaning and DPF regeneration.

What is a DPF?

A diesel particulate filter (DPF) sits in the exhaust of a diesel vehicle and traps soot so it does not leave the tailpipe. Over time the filter fills with soot and with ash, which cannot be burned off.

What is the difference between DPF regeneration and DPF cleaning?

Regeneration is the vehicle burning trapped soot off at high exhaust temperature, usually during longer drives. It cannot remove ash. Off-vehicle DPF cleaning on an XTON machine removes both soot and ash, which is why a filter that keeps blocking often needs a professional clean.

What are the signs of a blocked DPF?

Common signs are a DPF warning light on the dashboard, the engine going into limp mode, loss of power, higher fuel use, and frequent or failed regenerations.

Is DPF cleaning cheaper than replacing the filter?

In most cases, yes. A professional clean restores the original filter for much less than the price of a new one. Your service centre will check the filter first and confirm whether it can be cleaned.

Which vehicles can you clean DPFs for?

Diesel particulate filters, catalytic converters and SCR units from cars, vans, trucks, buses and agricultural and construction machines.
